HAPPY NEW YEAR

How are others going so far into this new year of seeking God for his direction/leading/guidance?

In reading over my final post for 2007 ... I can tell you:

For me, I will read less christian stuff next year, in favour of GOD's word through scripture.
I can tell you that so far I have already read more christian stuff than scripture. So as soon as I have completed the next one I will be saying 'no' to anything other than scripture (and the occassional light novel for balance ;)

I will set aside specific time to go out (with others!!!)
Not done yet .... but invite me ...!

and be Jesus in the community - intentionally!!
I continue to seize every opportunity I can to reflect HIM and to speak boldly.
eg. I recently told a 'windscreen washer' boy at the traffic lights that I had been praying for him and his twin brother and he responded with "Really?! My brother and I want to be baptised. Where can we go?" I directed them to the local church of christ on a Tuesday night when meals are provided and Celebrate Recovery is facilitated.

continue striving towards greater balance between work, fitness and spiritual growth
So far on track with this one ;)

Looking forward to sharing journeys, lessons and trials as we encourage one another.

God bless you all,

Gemma :)

I was at craft this am. I shared some of this with you last week. Anyhow - I had a lovely time meeting with people I had never spoken to before... Chatted quite a while with one woman I had never met. Sharing a bit of things in my life that were of concern; talking about how I so often want to rush in and make things better - and how I am trying to trust God more with such things by praying more and not trying to fix it myself etc. Then - we each chatted to other people... and then - just at the end - she came and told me about her nephew Nathan who has been in ICU - critically brain injured, and asked me to pray for him. I prayed with her and took details for the prayer team at Concordia. I said I was sorry to have been talking earlier about things I am sad about right now - when she was dealing with this enormous sorrow! But she said no - she was glad - because that gave her the opening to speak about her nephew - and to ask for me to pray for him.
Then I came home and got into Matthew 5 14 to 16 - remember I am using the Message right now - and these words leapt out at me:
Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Thank you Father for literally giving that Word life today

That is awesome Rosaleen :)
... 'doing' environments can really put people at ease and, in the presence of a genuine, open listener, doors of opportunity seem to just glide open! Glory to God!
