Whilst sitting outside, enjoying the breeze and thanking GOD for a couple of specific things that happened today in direct response to prayer ... PTL!
I got to thinking (or the Holy Spirit got me thinking):
Hungry people see food everywhere.
I suspect there are WAAAAY more signs and wonders going on around us a lot of the time – we just ain’t seein’ ‘em!
As is often said “GOD is not a performing bear!” so he’s not going to ‘step up the show’ just because us ‘earthlings’ are not listening or looking, let alone acknowledging the source.
We must LOOK for signs and wonders and EXPECT to see them in every situation.
We must give more credit to GOD and stop using words like ‘coincidence’ or ‘fluke’.
Perhaps then we will witness more signs and wonders in the form of miracle healings.
Are we not hungry enough if we do not ‘see’ the Holy Spirit at work everywhere?

Gemma, my thoughts on your post this morning are:
1) I totally agree that if we have eyes to see and ears to hear...in faith... then we would acknowledge more of God in what we see going on around us.
2) I can only speak for myself here, but I also think I need to "step out in faith" a whole lot more if I want to see God working in miraculous ways around me and through me. Most things I have read in Luke and Acts in this area seem to only happen when people step out in faith to do what is impossible - and then God makes it possible.
We need to be co-workers with God!
and mine on both your thoughts!
I agree 100% Gemma. More than that - I know that often I pray for things and
1) do not always follow up to see what is happening in the situation - what other prayer is needed etc - what has been answered. I think that if I can be so casual about the answer - why am I praying? well - becuase God is my Daddy - and I sometimes just ask and forget - yes - but I am older now...
2) when the prayer is answered (no matter which way) I am not diligent in thanksgiving! I often catch myself thinking "are you one of the lepers who was healed and dashed on down the road with no thanksgiving?"
So - there are no "coincidences" in life. Serendipidous as some things appear - lets give thanks where it is due!
and Andrew - absolutely right - we do need to step out in faith and ACT. Not specifically looking to do the impossible (we are not here to test God) - but simply doing those things that are at hand (by His will and intention) - and those we are led to (also by His will and intention).
This journey has sort of given me an overall picture on things I have heard discussed or that I have wondered about within the church re baptisms, gifts etc.
Jesus stories of the Talents. His assurance that to those who use their gifts - more will be given. That ties in clearly for me in the Acts stories.
Many believers. Different gifts (Talents). Some apostles, some prophets, some teachers, some good overseers, some with great healing powers. Most with tongues, many providing hospitality, some encouragement.
Differing gifts not to cause jealousy or to differentiate the value of an individual to God - but all gifts to be USED, or TAKEN AWAY (Jesus words).
Now how do I know what gifts I have if I have never exercised them (your point 2 Andrew). How do I know what gifts have been added if I don't keep exercising them?
Then - one needs to follow through with thanksgiving and discount 'coincidences'! just in the last weeks
* Gloria Mullane - the healing of her wrists and elbows has miraculous - Praise God!
* Ki who has had 2 miscarriages asked me to pray for her as soon as she fell pregnant again - she is now 11 weeks pregnant - Thank you Father!
* Kim who struggled for 3 years to fall pregnant with her first baby, fell pregnant within 2 months with her second - You are AMAZING Father - Thank you!
* The kids in the concert last night - they were so unusually 'orderly' - Thank you Jesus...
I could go on about things big and small...
All this writing reminds me to be more faithful with my journal - just noting the daily things that crop up - and the prayers that are answered...
- and to continue acting and praying with persistence for those healings that are yet to come!
- and to be treating every encounter with another person as an opportunity for - being Jesus, hands, feet, ears, words!
