Day 37 - ACTS 13

Once again, we are reminded that we cannot live in GOD's will without the Holy Spirit.

Only through the Holy Spirit can we be sure our words and actions are truly from GOD and not just what we think GOD would want us to be saying and/or doing.

Even then, how can we be sure it IS the voice of GOD? ..... Through prayer, trust, faith, belief and HUNGER!!!

I found verses 10-13 interesting. Through The Holy Spirit, Paul was given the authority to judge and condemn Elymas. To me, this not only represents the power we have available to us (not that I want that level of power, mind you!) but it also illustrates what is likely to happen on judgement day to those who deny and attempt to turn others away from faith in The Lord. Being left blind with no hand to reach out to = being alienated from GOD and having no access to the Holy Spirit ... left stumbling on our own in the dark.

In Jesus name I pray we all have eyes, ears and hearts that are OPEN to hearing the word of GOD through HIS Holy Spirit and that we encourage others in their faith, Amen!

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you.
Ezekiel 36:26

The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Breath of life, come now and breathe in us your life giving spirit. Fill us with your Holy Spirit this day so that we too may touch the lives of those with whom we come in contact. In our new hearts place your love
and compassion. Amen.

Thanks so much for your encouraging post again this morning Gemma!! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have said!

I found it interesting that it was "while they were worshiping and fasting" that the Holy Spirit spoke to them. I love the idea of being "sent" on a mission by the Holy Spirit. Paul was "filled with the Spirit" when he spoke a bold rebuke to Elymas. And then even after the Jews "stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region...the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit".

May the reality of these words and their experience translate into the fabric of our lives more and more as we SEEK him!!

Do we want more of the Holy Spirit in our lives? I was encouraged to consider fasting the other day. I was reading into it today, as I have not done a fast before. I am considering fasting as I desire to have a closer and more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Crucifying your flesh to deny the body of food. When you are willing to fast, your flesh weakens while your spirit strengthens, and you will grow closer to the Holy Spirit. This is what I want for me.
