God certainly knew what he was doing when he said of Saul: "This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles". He firstly got Paul's full attention, filled him with his Spirit and then sent him off on his life long mission.
Meanwhile Peter was travelling the country where he healed a paralytic and then raised Tabitha from the dead. In both cases many people "turned to the Lord".
"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Galatians 5:6
It was a huge turnaround - not only for Saul. Look at the believers - going from fearing him to protecting him.
I love the way we all see 'different things' in these readings - it really helps me to round out the chapters...
Like the last few chapters I have been seeing the different giftings and callings in action. Some high profile tasks like those of Peter and Saul and Ananias, others less dramatic like Tabitha - doing kind things helping the poor.
Each one using the gifts they have to serve Jesus. Faith expressed in love certainly - and gifts not being wasted!
Please join us during this lead up to Christmas 2009 by doing the four things listed below. Anyone can join at any time throughout this 8 week period although obviously it would be best if you can begin with us on the first of November 2009.
Requirements:
1. Commit to seeking God EVERY DAY in Nov & Dec '09 in a way that is more radical than anything you have ever done before.
2. Read.think.pray.live your way through the Gospel of John in seven weeks (3 chapters each week) and then 1 John, 2 John, 3 John in the final week.
3. Listen to the Holy Spirit and obey whatever he says to do!!
4. Contribute your insights and experiences to this blog.
May we all continue to seek the Kingdom of God before anything else!
